Entries are open from today until February 15th, 2024, and the successful candidates will be announced on February 16th.

The search is on for emerging talent in The Battle for Shazam. In a bid to unearth artistic treasures, the competition is looking for entries from all areas of the performing arts.
Artists will be given the opportunity to present a show of between 10 and 35 minutes in length, depending on the artistic discipline they represent. Artists must be available on 23 or 24 February 2024.

Rules and regulations:
- No minimum age
- Registration fee of $50 to be paid once your participation is confirmed (before 16th of February, 2024).
- Provide a visual or audio excerpt of your discipline
- Provide a short biography and a photograph
- Be available on 23 and/or 24 of February

Participants will have the following at their disposal during their performance

- Basic drum kit
- Guitar amp
- Bass amp
- A sound technician

-*- PRIZE! -*- PER NIGHT

- 1st place: $150 same night + a $600 contract* for a 25-65 minute performance (depending on artistic discipline) on the ShazamFest stage on 11, 12, 13 or 14 July 2024 + 1 complimentary ShazamFest pass per member of the artistic project (worth $175 each).

- 2nd place: $50 on the same night + 2 complimentary ShazamFest 2024 passes per member.

- 3rd place: 1 ShazamFest 2024 pass per band member.

*All contracts will be honoured at ShazamFest 2024.

Sherbrooke, Quebec - Hold onto your hats and mark your calendars for a wild ride into the heart of emerging talent! On the 23rd and 24th of February, brace yourselves for an unforgettable showdown at Le Murdoch. The Combat de la Scène Shazam is back and bigger than ever, showcasing the hottest up-and-coming bands in the Eastern Townships.

For our 8th edition, we're thrilled to present a stellar lineup of 10 incredible bands chosen from our 26 applications. Each night, with the help of our audience, we'll be selecting a winner who will earn a coveted spot on the ShazamFest 2024 lineup.

Friday night kicks off with a bang!

The Loonies (Shawinigan): A grunge/punk sensation taking the stage for one of their first shows.
Kraken Sawnd (Coaticook): A power punk trio, the brainchild of three high-school buddies now in their 40s.
Memories of an Old Man (Sherbrooke): Not quite metal, but a little bit metal, this spa metal/post-rock band delivers a unique sound.
Paire de Manches (Sherbrooke): An enchanting blend of folk, engaging lyrics, and quality arrangements, promising an unforgettable journey through a spectrum of emotions, sprinkled with humor and musical variety.
Mate (Sherbrooke): Three years ago, at Mitchell Montcalm High School, Mate emerged from the union of 5 music-hungry friends. Their compositions, influenced by rock, jazz and folk, in French and English, blend harmoniously with the covers they play during their performances. Our participation in the Combat de la Scène ShazamFest galvanized us to compose several new songs for our forthcoming French-language album.

Saturday promises a tight race!

Langue de Bois (Sherbrooke): A melting pot of creative ideas from five musicians with contrasting influences, exploring societal norms and personal struggles through captivating music.
Verre Moutarde (Drummondville): Forged from the crucible of a 2023 televised contest, this pop/indie group exudes authenticity, aiming to revive the true essence of Francophone music.
Yohann Francoz (North Hatley): A passionate troubadour on a mission to merge diverse musical sentiments, creating a vibrant, emotionally charged soundscape.
Génération Margarine (Sherbrooke): Embark on a vibrant rock journey infused with retro grunge vibes and incisive irony, offering a musical experience both entertaining and thought-provoking.
Moronic Inferno (Montreal): Seamlessly blending friendship, love, and funky riffs with Montreal's urban and multicultural pulse, guaranteeing a night of infectious funky beats!

Cover charge: $8, $5 for Shazam Members
